How do I purchase Baby ESP?
The Baby ESP software app is currently available only on the Android market.
Android is an operating system for cell phones (partial list of supported phones).

Only $3.99!
From your phone, launch the Market application. Search for "Baby ESP" or go to the Health category for paid applications. There is also a 7-day trial version you can download to evaluate the app before buying.
If you are having trouble purchasing from the Market, or you are unable to find the app on the Market then you may also pay for the app with Paypal and download from BabyESP.com. Email support to get instructions to use paypal.


I used the trial version but can't find the full version of Baby ESP on the Market?
That sometimes happens for various reasons.
One reason could be if you are in a country without access to paid apps.

Other reasons include if you purchased a newer model phone, if you recently switched phones, did a firmware upgrade or a factory reset.

You can buy the app directly and download from BabyESP.com if you can pay with Paypal. Email Support to start the process.

I repeatedly get a "server error" when trying to purchase from the Market, what can I do?
We're sorry if you have been having trouble purchasing the app. We have been getting many complaints like this in early August 2010, it is very frustrating we know!

One thing that has worked for a number of people is to setup a Google checkout account from a computer or through the browser on your phone, and then try to purchase from the Market. Go to http://checkout.google.com/, login with your google account and add a credit card.

This is assuming of course that you haven't purchased any apps yet.

What cell phones / platforms does Baby ESP run on?
New cell phones that run the Android™ OS are being released all the time. I can't list them all, for a definitive updated list try Wikipedia's list of android devices.

Can I track more than one baby?
Yes! Select the Manage button from the main screen and then either select the baby you want to edit or select the + button in the upper right of the screen to add a new baby.

Activities and timers are only visible for one baby at a time. To switch between babies, slide your finger left or right on the baby information at the bottom of the screen

Can I sync my data between multiple phones or the internet?
Yes, that feature was added in version 1.1 to allow syncing data to babyesp.com, that allows you to share the data between multiple devices. You will need to purchase Baby ESP on each device you want to sync with.

A future update will allow viewing and editing data from a web browser.

How do I switch the buttons on the main screen?
Since version 1.2 the buttons on the main screen are customizable. To switch a button long-press it (press and hold for more than 1 second) and select a new button from the list. You can choose any activity, custom other activity, medicine or any of the buttons in the More menu.

How do I track night sleep vs. naps?
The app has support for tracking night sleep and naps with separate statistics and charts.
To keep it simple you track both naps and night sleep using the Sleep activity and depending on the time of day of the sleep the app will count the nap as either night sleep or a daytime nap. You may adjust the normal bedtime and wake up times of you baby under the Settings screen, however the times don't have to be exact if you baby is not on a schedule yet. The app will figure things out correctly. You can also turn off this feature under Settings if you just want to track naps (more useful for newborns).

How do I run the a timer for multiple babies at once?
Select the nap, nursing, or bottle button from the main screen, then slide your finger left or right on the baby information at the bottom of the screen to access the baby you wish to time. Each baby will have a unique timer for each activity.

Once you select a baby, start the timer as you normally would. You may then switch to a different baby using the child slider and start a different timer.

Can I run other programs on my phone while a timer is running?
Of course! Once you start a timer, you can exit the timer screen or Baby ESP to use your phone, browse the Web, etc. When you need to stop the timer, just return to Baby ESP and the timer will still be running.

Do I have to use a timer to record activities if I'm away from my phone?
No. When you can't get to your phone to record a nap, bottle or nursing entry on time, select the button on the main screen for the activity you wish to record. Select the + button in the upper right of the screen, then enter the start and end times manually by selecting the date and time buttons.

If you don't start a timer when an activity starts but still wish to use the timer, you can! Just start the timer as you normally would, then adjust the start time on the timer screen by selecting the time button.

Can I edit or delete recorded activities?
Yes. When you stop a timer you will be taken to a screen to edit the details of the activity or add optional notes. If you wish to later edit or delete an activity, you can do so by selecting the activity on the main screen.

Can I share information with others?
Yes! In addition to Sync support you can also email the following information from the app:
  1. Activity records in either CSV format for import into a spreadsheet or HTML format for Web browsers, with either format printable from its respective applications. To email records, select the Share icon on the main screen.
  2. Detailed activity statistics. To email statistics, go to the Statistics screen for the date range you wish to share, select the menu button on your phone, and then select the Email button.
  3. Activity charts. To email charts, go to the Charts screen for the chart and date range you wish to share, select the menu button on your phone, and then select the Email button.

Can I backup my data?
Yes, push the menu button on your phone to backup your data to the SD card. Your data will be stored in the com.hewittsoft.baby directory. You may then later restore the data from backup if you need to with one click.
Or you can use transfer the backup data to a new phone to bring your Baby ESP data with you.

To keep a more readable backup, you can email yourself your data in CSV format or in a printable format.

Can I track other activities besides eating, sleeping and pooping?
Yes! Other activities such as Baths, Play, Tummy Time, Spit up, Crying are supported as well, and you can also add any custom activity you may wish to track. We also plan to support pumping, other types of bottles (water, juice, breast milk) soon.

Can I modify or delete an other activity I've created?
Yes. Long press on the activity you would like to modify or delete (press for 1 or 2 seconds). A popup window will appear with options to edit or delete the activity.

How do I delete a baby?
  1. Go to the Edit Baby screen by long-pressing the baby from the main screen, or by clicking the More button from the main screen, then the Manage Babies button.
  2. Press the Menu button on your phone.
  3. Select the Delete Baby menu item.
  4. Confirm that you really do wish to delete the baby.
